Supanews
The first Supanews store was opened by Adrian Gaskin in 1992 in Aspley, Queensland. The success of this business allowed Adrian to open more stores and he opened several sites within the Brisbane CBD. Following on from this success, the chain expanded into major shopping complexes and transit locations on the east coast of Australia.
In late 2004 Supanews became the first business model franchise in the newsagency industry. Franchising was identified as the best way to build and manage the business for expansion. Supanews developed a strong franchise system that offered people a simplified and robust way to become a newsagent and to thrive in a highly competitive marketplace.
In late 2006 Supanews entered a joint venture with REDGroup Retail to form Supanews Retail.
Today Supanews has 51 stores (28 franchised) in Queensland, New South Wales, ACT and Victoria. It has proven systems and transferability that have allowed the chain to grow into a business with revenue in excess of $ 100 Million a year and having grown by 280% in the past 5 years.
